Summer Studios 2025 includes non-audition programs for students entering grades 2–10, and an audition-only Performance Lab for teens (grades 8 to pre-college). In our non-audition programs, young artists develop their skills with a wide range of exercises and create original performances with their classmates. This summer’s Teen Performance Lab will focus on the songs of Little Shop of Horrors. MassArt’s dynamic and robust Pre-College Summer Studios program is for students who are considering higher education in the visual arts.

MassArt believes in the importance of a quality arts education beginning in elementary school. We offer affordable, diverse programs for students in grades 3-12 that give students the ability to access the power of the arts for their future success.

Charisse Pearlina Weston holds a masters degree from the University of Edinburgh and BA from the University of North Texas. She lived abroad for two years in France following her postgraduate studies, returning to Houston in the summer of 2013. Her work focuses on how individuals construct personal myths or narratives of Self-hood. Weston is concerned with the dichotomies of Self/Others, Subject/Object, Individual/Community.
For students entering grades 11-12, this program is a four-week intensive experience in art making and critical thinking. Students develop the practice and skills required to achieve excellence in their artistic endeavors and produce work for their portfolios. At Summer Evans Studio, we strive to provide the ultimate hair experience from start to finish using advanced methods and techniques. Our education-driven stylists attend weekly training and attend monthly classes which means that they are highly knowledgeable and will help you find a look that suits your individual style.
Class instructors and camp counselors will be on-hand to supervise students during all Summer Art Studios activities. Summer Art Studios classes can be rigorous, focused, and require skills sets (both physical, verbal, and cognitive) that might not be appropriate for all youth and teens.
